Most Memorable Moments in Flag
Football: Tim Brannan, our
deceased team captain, sponsor, bon vivant and raconteur, was our center and
true soul of the team, in much the same way as Frank Culotta, team organizer,
defensive lineman, USFTL HOF Member, had been our beating heart. Frank’s
constant exhortations for discipline, timing, practice, emphasis, and focus
were constantly met with equally persistent retorts, practical jokes, booby
traps, and flagrant disregard for the conventional norms of football
preparation and practice by Tim.
True to form, while Tim had faithfully promised Frank to report early to a
much anticipated, heated match with a cross-town rival WILDWOOD AC, kick-off
found Tim just arriving and cavorting across the field dash perhaps skipping
would be a better description- wearing an over-large sombrero, with a narrow
floor rug draped across his shoulder to his hip, and a day-long stogie
squished in his mouth, loudly announcing the arrival of the “MEXICAN
BANDITO!”
All
predictably, Frank erupted, Timmy giggled and the Wilken’s House easily won
that day.
